Heather Falconer is a Creative Director and Journalist, based in New York City. She has ten years experience in the fashion and publishing industry which began by studying Fashion, Media & Promotion at Northbrook College Sussex in the UK, obtaining a first class honours degree.
Heather’s passion for the publishing industry was fuelled by contributing to Amelia’s Magazine, Tank, Fused, Conde Nast Traveler and Drapers. She worked across several departments including art, editorial and fashion before deciding to launch her own publication; Spindle, in May 2010.
Through Spindle Magazine, Heather managed the international print distribution, events – including music showcases, fashion shows and art exhibitions – the online execution and content strategy.
Alongside Spindle she creatively directed and styled a mixture of projects, including music videos for George Ezra and Izzy Bizu, and advertising campaigns for Foot Locker, Converse and MasterCard.
Heather sees herself as a curator; whether it’s styling clothes on a musician, the pages of a magazine or organising an event, Heather brings her unique ways of thinking and creative vision to the project. She is passionate about community building and the creative industries, which has led her to have the immense network she has today.
In 2014, Heather launched Spindle Agency, an offshoot of Spindle Magazine which catered specifically to brands’ creative solutions. Projects within the Spindle Agency included the UKTI (now DIT) Great British Men’s Style Event at Soho House in NYC, and KNGLxTRRBL, a brand partnership between fashion giant Kangol and Hackney based streetwear brand Terrible Movement; Heather pioneered Kangol’s first ever clothing collaboration.
In 2016, Heather sold the Spindle brand, and remained EIC of Spindle Magazine for the following year. Within that year, she brought out a new print issue of Spindle in February 2017, which was distributed across the UK and Barnes & Noble stores in the US. Heather also hosted two Spindle events and managed a campaign for fashion brand Barbour International, which saw three influential creatives from Heather’s network promoted across the Barbour International social media platforms.
